Welcome to our Journey!

We are Samantha and Madison, lifelong best friends, who decided to wander this beautiful planet Earth! After graduating from college we decided that 2018 would be our year to start our travel journey across the world! Our decision to travel was driven by our passion for nature, culture, and photography among other things. Not going back to Graduate school right away was a scary decision, but life is about following your dreams and desires. Everyone needs a partner in crime for those rough high school years. Finding someone you can trust completely, love unconditionally, and share amazing memories with is not always easy but meeting each other has changed our lives for the better. We have been with each other through all the tears, the laughter, the heartbreak, the bliss, and plan on experiencing many more years of travels together.

Why we wanted to travel?

SP:Everyone has a goal to find happiness, and discover what they are passionate about. There is no one specific way to live your life, and although my way is not the standard path, I chose it because it’s what makes me the happiest. For years I thought traveling was unattainable. I was told to go to school, get a job, settle down, but I knew that wasn’t for me. I wanted to travel to foreign countries, and experience cultures, food and music I am unfamiliar with. These next few years will be shared with my best friend exploring the world because it's something I always dreamed of doing.

MS:Traveling the world has always been on my mind. My mother has always been a source of inspiration behind my desire to travel. Growing up I would look at pictures and hear stories of all the amazing places she has been in the world. My mother always told me to do what makesme happy even when people thought otherwise. Traveling opens up a world of possibilities. I wanted to travel because I love nature, food, and people. It is inspiring to learn and exchange cultures with others. Through these experiences, you will learn about who you are and discover your true passions.

Where have we been?

January 2018 was our first major trip to Southeast Asia. We started our journey traveling North to South through Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. Our travels lasted five weeks. In the past we have visited places such as Cancun, Mexico, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, Los Angeles, CA, Las Vegas, NV, and Miami, FL.

Our journeys didn’t start together. We have both traveled to cities and countries separate from one another.

SP:My mother was born and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay. She immigrated to this country when she was 14 and has lived in the United States ever since. When i was around 13 I had the opportunity to travel with my family and experience my heritage, visiting the country my family knows as home. I have also visited destinations such as the Bahamas, Washington D.C, and a majority of the East Coast including my home state of Florida.

MS: As a child, I visited the Bahamas several times on family vacations. In college I had the opportunity to work with several organizations that gave back to impoverished communities. My first year, I volunteered in Ecuador with MEDlife, a nonprofit which provided medical attention, education, and community development. I also volunteered twice with LOVE, a program whose goal is to give back to local and global communities. This brought me to Jamaica to work with the Mustard Seed Community, providing care to children with both physical and developmental disabilities. With LOVE, I also traveled to Haiti to teach English and math to students at the Lasallian Brothers School. My Junior year of college I studied abroad in Paris, France. Once I graduated, I took a road trip starting in Arizona going through California, Oregon, and Washington.

Where do we want to go?

The real question should read “where don’t we want to go?”. We love crystal clear water and mountains with an abundance of waterfalls and wildlife. We also love snowy fields and sandy deserts. This Earth has so much to offer, and it would be a disservice to the beautiful planet we live on if we didn’t explore every destination we could. This year we hope to island hop in Greece with a possible pit stop in Croatia. Our goal is to inspire people to travel to unfamiliar places and immerse themselves in the culture. Travel is possible for anyone and if there’s anything we have learned so far, is that sometimes you need to take the leap. Those risks can create the most amazing experiences and memories.
