Traveling to any country can be nerve racking so we thought we'd make a list of what we learned from our experience. Here's a quick list of things you should and should not do when traveling to the beautiful country of Greece.

DO:
Put sunscreen on before you start your day and re-apply throughout the day. That greek sun is no joke!
Drink plenty of water! Between the sightseeing and exploring you will get dehydrated.
Order a Frappe: a foam-covered iced coffee drink made from instant coffee, water and sugar. Our favorite way to order it was Frappe medio, me gala which translates to an iced frappe with medium sugar and milk.
Learn basic greeting like hello, goodbye, and thank you in Greek. Greeks love this and it's also fun to learn a new language.
Hello/Goodbye - YAH-soo
Please/You're Welcome - para-kah-LOE
Thank you - eff-kha-ri-STOE
Yes - neh
No - OH-hee
Try different foods! Lets just say there was nothing we didn’t like in Greece, and each region has their speciality.
Visit the mainland especially the mountains (The mainland is just as beautiful as the islands).
Get your Euros before your trip. This will save you the headache of exchanging money there.
Get some shade when you need it.. You won’t miss out on the sunshine too much! It’s sunny all day long so I promise it is worth it to relax in the shade for a little.
Take public transportation. It's a very affordable and safe way of getting around.

DON’T:
DO NOT SAY GYRO.. it’s pronounced YEE-Ros
Don't get into a taxi without asking how much before the trip starts, especially on the islands. They will overcharge tourists.
Don't deny food/drinks offered by restaurants in Greece.. It can be insulting ( While at a restaurant in Athens the waiter brought over 4 free rounds of shots, by the second round we had no desire for anymore)
Throw paper in the toilet. Unless you want an awkward bathroom incident.
Drink tap water on certain Greek Islands (Drink bottled water)
Leave your belongings unattended (especially in Athens where pick pockets are common. This is speaking from experience. Sam's phone was stolen on the second day!)
Don't be afraid to do some walking. You'll never know the hidden gems you can find.
Don't wait till last minute to book your accommodations especially on the islands. If you do your options are very limited and way more expensive than you’d like.
